It's no secret to anyone. I don't like being pregnant. I throw up the first half of pregnancy and feel huge the second half. There might be a month in the middle where I feel decent. But the cold hard truth is that pregnancy hormones mess with me. I don't enjoy it. So I'm always looking for natural ways to help with the morning sickness. I have never taken prescription drugs to help. The risks associated with those have never outweighed the sickness aspect for us. I have recently stumbled upon some studies that I would like to share for all you mamas out there looking for anything to help you out. Lemon essential oil Women were told to inhale lemon essential oil when they started feeling nauseous. It helped some of them! Please make sure that the oil you use is void of chemicals and as strong as possible. (Not diluted.) There are some great companies out there selling oils. There are also companies not selling great oils. Do your research. Luckily, lemon is one of the cheaper oils. You can expect to pay about $10 for a bottle. Peppermint essential oil Women were told to place four drops of peppermint essential oil in a bowl near the floor of their bed at night. The study says there wasn't a significant difference between the control group and the mint group in the days following. This is true. But there does seem to be a difference in the ladies DURING the time period the oils were used. Either way, it can't hurt! Peppermint is also a cheaper oil. Do NOT apply it topically or ingest it while pregnant. Acupressure Women were told to use the acupressure PC-6 point four times a day. Results showed improvement in the symptoms but not the frequency of vomiting. The older the mother the more likely she was to be experiencing morning sickness! I have always used Sea Bands to help with my morning sickness. I found them in my local Walmart in the pharmacy section. They are usually kept there to help people with sea sickness on cruises. I wear them all. the. time. while pregnant. :) Maybe one of these methods will help you! I like that none of these methods ask you to ingest anything. There seems to be minimal, if any risks involved. I am always a fan of that! *Please note that I am NOT a medical professional and this is in no way medical advice.
